In orchard projects, most people focus on yield, variety, fertilizer, and irrigation. These are important, but in real situations, they are not the biggest risk. The real impact usually comes from weather. Not every year, but when it happens, the loss can be serious and hard to recover.
We have seen a case from a customer with around 500 acres of orchard. In normal years, production is stable. But one season with continuous rain and unstable weather caused a big drop in yield. Not a small fluctuation, but a clear loss across the whole orchard. After that, the approach changed. Instead of expanding or adjusting inputs, the customer first added protection — rain cover on some areas, and hail net on others. The reason was simple: this is not extra cost, this is protection.
These agricultural nets are not for making the farm look better. They are used to reduce risk when conditions become unstable.
